THE OSCARS 2012

THE OSCARS

It is hard to imagine that the first ever Academy awards were presented in the 1920s at a small private brunch, to an audience of little more than 200 people. The Oscars has now grown into one of the biggest and most glamorous events on the planet, last night’s ceremony being no exception!

The Oscar dresses did not disappoint, the red carpet being the ultimate runway as well as the perfect chance for celebrities to glam themselves up.

Angelina Jolie had on a black velvet Atelier Versace dress with her signature slit down one side. Her skin as porcelain as ever, hair in beautiful loose curls and with striking red lips.

Penelope Cruz looked like Cinderella in an off-the-shoulder Armani lilac ball gown. She chose an elegant Old Hollywood style up-do and simple diamond jewellery.

Gwyneth Paltrow was in a white caped dress from Tom Ford’s latest collection. She opted for nude make up and a statement cuff bracelet. She always looks amazing but last night she really oozed sophistication and grace.

Cameron Diaz showed off her new cropped hairstyle and looked gorgeous in a fitted strapless Gucci Premiere off-white gown. The feathered train complete with sparkles, as well as her mega-watt smile, attracted a large amount of press attention, everyone talking about her toned figure.

Meryl Streep, winner of Best Actress in a Leading Role, owned the red carpet in a floor-sweeping glittering Lanvin dress. The dress had a plunging neckline and a detailed belt which really showed off Meryl’s amazing figure. At 62 Meryl still radiates youthful beauty.

Natalie Portman glided down the 2012 Oscar red carpet, with fiancée Benjamin Millepied, wearing a 1954 vintage polka dot dress from designer Haute Couture Christian Dior. She paired this with a stunning diamond necklace and a simple black clutch.

Jennifer Lopez looked gorgeous and curvaceous in a 70s inspired Zuhair Murad silver gown. The glitzy dress had cut out details and the design really emphasised J-Lo’s tiny waist. She also glowed in nude make up, looking bronzed and healthy.

Kristen Wiig, star of ‘Bridesmaids’, looked stunning in a feathered strapless nude J. Mendel gown. She opted for dark nails, nude make up and smokey eyes. Her hair also looked fabulous, Kristen wearing it down in large shiny curls.

Milla Jovovich glistened in a one-shouldered Elie Saab gown. Her Edie Parker box clutch, simple diamond jewellery and sophisticated up-do completed her ensemble.

Finally Louise Roe and George Clooney's girlfriend Stacy Keibler stole the show, both looking absolutely beautiful. Louise Roe wore a pale pink Black Halo dress and Stacy Keibler wore a gold shimmey Marchesa gown.
